DEC200 Digital Ophthalmoscope Camera System

DEC200 Digital Ophthalmoscope Camera System

OOphthalmic visualisation using an ophthalmoscope camera system allows the clinician to visualise and capture images of the fundus and optic nerve by using both IR and LED to easily capture images without the need for dilation. Enables non-mydriatic fundus examinations with reflection-free imaging and a wide field of view to capture the appearance of optic disc, macula and retinal vasculature.

Technical overview

Non-mydriatic fundus photography is an effective alternative to direct ophthalmoscopy for examining the ocular fundus in non-ophthalmology or remote settings. The procedure is carried out by an ophthalmologist or other clinician in remote cases utilising the fundus camera and uses the retina’s own reflective properties, which means the pupil allows the retinal camera to pass light rays into the eye and capture the images. The process is painless for patients and it doesn’t require pupil dilation (in most cases).

The image captured can allow the ophthalmologist to assess afflictions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, high blood pressure, diabetic retinopathy, and even multiple sclerosis.

Linked to Riester’s Telemedicine System, this allows remote clinicians to link to an ophthalmologist without the need for the patient to travel for the initial consultation.
